I personally think Atticus has kept his talent of marksmanship a secret from an incident that has possibly affected him from the past. I think he has done this because it could possibly set a bad influence on the kids with the weaponry or he has done something that will affect the way his kids are looked at if he is noticed with his marksmanship. On page 109 Miss Maudie mentioned, ” I think maybe he put his gun down when he realised that god had given him an a unfair advantage over most living things”. This quote shows something has possibly happened in the past which has affected his marksmanship to that day.
